Rheumatoid arthritis
A chronic inflammatory disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks the lining of the joints, causing painful swelling that can eventually result in bone erosion and joint deformity.
Psoriatic arthritis
A form of arthritis that affects some people who have psoriasis. It typically causes joint pain, stiffness, and swelling.
Ankylosing spondylitis / Axial spondyloarthritis
An inflammatory disease that, over time, can cause some of the bones in the spine (vertebrae) to fuse, making the spine less flexible and resulting in a hunched-forward posture.
Gout
A common and complex form of arthritis characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain, swelling, redness and tenderness in one or more joints, most often in the big toe.
Pseudogout
A form of arthritis characterised by sudden, painful swelling in one or more joints, caused by the deposition of calcium pyrophosphate crystals.
Reactive arthritis
Joint pain and swelling triggered by an infection in another part of the body — most often the intestines, genitals or urinary tract.
Inflammatory bowel disease – associated arthritis
Joint inflammation that occurs in individuals who have inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
